George Soros Philanthropic and Political Influence

George Soros is a successful Hungarian American immigrant. He has made his fortune through his hedge fund investments and uses his wealth to invest in charity and political causes. George Soros lived in Nazi occupied Hungary during world war 2 with his Jewish family. They were able to avoid the concentration camps by providing papers that concealed their Jewish identity. After the war, Hungary was occupied by the Soviet Forces. Soros decided to leave Hungary in 1947 to pursue his education in London. There he studied at the London School of Economics. He eventually moved to the United States where he began his career in the finance industry and hedge fund management. From his financial empire, Soros was able to become well known for his philanthropic activities and political involvement during US elections and learn more about Soros.

From his wealth, Soros was able to create the Open Society Foundations. It’s a philanthropic organization that consists of a network of partnerships, foundations, and networks dedicated to improving the lives of the most vulnerable. One of these vulnerable communities was the Roma Gypsiy community. He aided the integration of the Roma Gyspsey community into Europe. Soros first donation was to black South Africans in their struggle against apartheid. George Soros is also well known for his generous donations during US presidential elections. During the election in 2004, between George Bush and Al Gore, Soros donated $27 million dollars to defeat the George Bush candidacy. Until recently, Soros has not made any significant donation to any presidential campaign. Faced with the perceived threat of Donald Trump becoming president, Soros donated $25 million to the Hillary Clinton campaign. Soros political donations are almost exclusively spent on the Democratic party because he believes the Democratic party can best address immigration reform, criminal justice reform, and religious tolerance and his Twitter.
