RAINN is known as the largest anti-sexual violence organization and believes even needs to be supported. Their mission is as important as ever as statistics point out that an American is assaulted every 68 seconds. Members of the LGBTQ community have an even higher chance to be assaulted. The organization wants it to be known that callers are there to assist on their hotline twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Individuals are free to share whatever they want to say to callers. RAINN believes speaking up is essential and identifying as what someone is sexually. It is also important for the representation of the youth. Some survivors spoke about how RAINN was able to greatly help them find closure. One survivor stated how valuable the hotline was and how they work within the field. Scott Berkowitz is the founder and president of the organization and stated the organization is for all people. This is why he created the organization in the first place. According to RAINN President, since being in operation for about 28 years, the group has been able to help 4 million people. Scott Berkowitz credited the workers on the hotlines for this feat. The organization is said to help about 800 people a day, up from just what was 100 in the year 1994. Berkowitz went on to say how they are trusted and so well-known in the community at large. Not only this, they thank the people who trusted them and reached out to seek help. It is unfortunate so many are sexually assaulted each day so the need is there. Aside from the hotline, the organization has partnered with television and streaming networks on public service ads and such.
