Ross Levinsohn, the Sports Illustrated CEO, has been one of the most influential individuals in change and innovation in the media and technology for a considerable time. Ross is recognized for his excellent work at Yahoo and Fox. He has also held the position of CEO for several prominent brands. In these positions, he was accountable for the culture and results of the businesses he oversaw and for driving change.
Before joining Maven, Ross served as the Sports Illustrated CEO. Tribune Publishing is the parent company of more than one hundred publications, including the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Daily News. Tribune Interactive is the digital division of Tribune Publishing. Ross previously held the position of the chief executive officer at the Los Angeles Times.
When Ross served as interim CEO of Yahoo, the internet pioneer had gained more than $5 billion in annual revenue and a market capitalization of $20 billion. Due to his position, he was responsible for overseeing the entire company. Prior to his current role, he was the executive vice president of the Americas region and the head of the Global Media division.
In addition, Ross was the president of the News Corporation division known as Fox Interactive Media. In this role, he contributed to the expansion of the company’s digital business, with the ultimate goal of making it the most active collection of web properties in the US.
Ross has also led Guggenheim Digital Media as the Chief Executive Officer, where he oversaw Billboard Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Ad Week; the Managing Director of Fuse Capital, a media and technology venture capital firm; and as a member of the executive at HBO. All of these roles were performed concurrently. His introduction to the digital industry began during his tenure at CBS Sportsline. In addition, he held the position of chief advisor at Boston Consulting Group.
Levinsohn attended The American University, where he not only earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications but also served for many years on the Board Of Trustees. Levinsohn is an active member of both of these organizations.
