The State of New York created the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) in 1984 to plan, design, develop, operate, and preserve Roosevelt Island. With an emphasis on inventive and sustainable solutions, RIOC is devoted to delivering services that improve island life for its residents. RIOC oversees two miles worth of roads, parks, buildings, a sports center, the iconic aerial tramway, and a Public Safety Department, which helps to uphold a safe environment for dwellers, personnel, business owners, and travelers alike.
Shelton J. Haynes is collaborating with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) Board of Directors, managing the successful execution of the Corporation alongside the Chairperson so that the Board can fulfill its designated duties. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Haynes directs the Corporation to pursue its principles, mandate, plan, and short-term and long-term aims and intentions.
In addition to other duties, Mr. Haynes must also take care of the official and management operations and authority of the Corporation and monitor and oversee the Corporation’s affairs. Recently, Mr. Haynes worked as the Chief Operating Officer for the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). It was his duty to keep track of the island’s everyday activities along with managing administrative and operational sections of the Corporation.
Before his current position, Mr. Haynes was the Chief Operating Officer at the Housing Authority of DeKalb County in Georgia. He had control over all agency operations, strategic plans, operational initiatives, and the executive management team when there. He successfully took underperforming departments and remolded them into high-functioning ones thanks to measurable key performance indicators and checks for compliance. Shelton Haynes achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Hampton University.
The Community Affairs Division is an obvious and aggressive department of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), intended to form, nurture, and keep up relationships with the R.I. community. The department guarantees a shield and secure atmosphere for Roosevelt Island’s citizens, staff, business proprietors, neighborhood, and travelers.
